The Legends Tour – Rosapenna, August 2021

Join 2014 winning Ryder Cup Captain, Paul McGinley, as he hosts a weeklong extravaganza of golf, hospitality, entertainment and craic, in the company of former Ryder Cup Captains and players.

The Legends Tour is offering a limited number of places in the Alliance Pro-Am which pairs one amateur with two professionals during all three tournament rounds, playing in three balls, the greatest amateur experience in golf. This is an incredible inside the ropes experience during the Irish Legends tournament, played for the first time over the Tom Morris designed Old Course at Rosapenna.

The Legends Tour, formerly known as the European Senior Tour and more recently as the Staysure Tour, is a men’s professional golf tour for members aged 50 and older. Many of the pioneering past champions, Major winners, Ryder Cup Captains and Players during the 80s, 90s and 00’s make up the Legends Tour field. Having had a life on Tour, the Pro’s will ensure you have an unforgettable experience with fun and help with your game in relaxed and quality surroundings, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The Legends Tour has teamed up with G Golf Ireland to offer this exclusive package designed to immerse you and your guests in the full Irish experience, with a twist of luxury, culminating in the Alliance Pro-Am at Rosapenna. Paul highly recommends you take the opportunity to hone your links golf skills in the run up to the tournament on some of Ireland’s best links courses.

PAUL MCGINLEY

Play with Paul?

Paul is not only the first Irishman to captain the Ryder Cup team, but he is also a winning captain, victorious at the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

“It means a lot to spend time with passionate golf fans, sharing my thoughts and knowledge on leadership, performance and creating a winning team culture based on a player and as a victorious Ryder Cup Captain”

DARREN CLARKE

Play with Darren?

The cheers of support and encouragement could be heard in Dublin, as Darren Clarke strode onto the 1st tee at the K Club in 2006. The 36th Ryder Cup in Ireland was arguably Clarke’s Ryder Cup.

Ian Woosnam selected Clarke as one of his wild cards and the rest is history. Clarke did not let him down, winning all three of his matches as Europe went on to beat the USA.

COLIN MONTGOMERIE

The eight-time European Tour Number One further confirmed his legendary status as he inspired Europe to victory at The 2010 Ryder Cup. Awarded the OBE in 2004.

Engaging, enlightening, unmissable, quotable, sometimes irritable, metronomically consistent and enigmatic, Monty personifies European golf. Impossible to ignore, wherever he played, there was just something about Monty that add a little extra edge in the US, or against them.

IAN WOOSNAM

During the 1980s and 1990s, Ian ‘Woosie’ Woosnam was a name never far away from the top of the leaderboard. A winner on both the PGA and European Tour, the highlight of his career was undoubtedly his Masters’ triumph in 1991.

It is hard to forget the image of Woosie’s long-term caddie, Wobbly, sprinting across the 18th green at Augusta and lifting the Wee Welshman off his feet in celebration.

TOM LEHMAN

Play with Tom?

Tom Lehman is the only player in history to be voted ‘Player of Year’ on all three tours operated by the PGA Tour.

This is a testament to the consistent nature of his golf, where on the PGA Tour, he not only won five times, but was runner up 19 times in between 1992 and 2006.

“Winning the Open was the single most important victory in my golfing career”

MARK JAMES

Play with Mark?

The 1999 Ryder Cup was probably one of the more famous matches. A controversial few days, won by the USA, but marred by alleged over-zealous celebrations from the home team and criticism for James regarding his wild card picks.

However, James’ book Into the Bear Pit is a fascinating read about all that happened that year.
